Dr. Bruce Pierce, a former New Jersey obstetrician and gynecologist, is facing a lawsuit from 31 former patients alleging sexual assault during patient exams spanning years at his practice. Who is Dr. Bruce Pierce?
Bruce R. Pierce was an obstetrician-gynecologist who practiced for nearly three decades, from the 1990s until 2024, at Delaware Valley OBGYN & Princeton Midwifery, also known as Delaware Valley OBGYN and Infertility Group, P.C., in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. Pierce provided routine and specialized gynecological care to patients.
Allegations Against Dr. Bruce Pierce
Dr. Bruce Pierce has been accused of sexual assault and inappropriate touching during gynecological exams by dozens of women. Red flags were first raised in a 2024 state licensing action, followed by a 2026 civil lawsuit brought by 31 former patients.
The 2024 License Suspension
In December 2024, the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners temporarily suspended Pierce’s medical license following a November hearing. The suspension came after a Verified Complaint from the New Jersey Attorney General that alleged Pierce inappropriately touched two longtime patients during exams in January and December 2023.
The first patient reported the alleged inappropriate touching from her 2023 exam to the Lawrence Township Police Department, as well as the state medical board. No criminal charges against Pierce have been publicly confirmed.
The 2026 Civil Lawsuit: 31 Women Come Forward
On July 29, 2026, 31 former patients of Dr. Pierce filed a civil lawsuit in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Mercer County, against Pierce and his practice. The complaint asserts 13 causes of action, including medical malpractice, assault and battery, and violations of New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination. The lawsuit alleges a pattern of conduct involving prolonged, medically unnecessary exams, inappropriate touching, and instances where a chaperone was not offered or present.

Delaware Valley OBGYN's Alleged Negligence
Beyond the claims against Pierce individually, the lawsuit also names Delaware Valley OBGYN and Infertility Group, P.C., as a defendant, alleging the practice had actual or constructive knowledge of his conduct and failed to take reasonable steps to protect patients. Under vicarious liability and negligence laws, an employer or practice can be held liable if it knew or could reasonably have known about misconduct and failed to act.
