Dan Price: Sexual Abuse Allegations
Video Transcript
Dan Price, the on and off again CEO of Gravity Payments, has faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault and domestic violence over the last few years.
Price became well-known in the startup and business scene for his decision to allegedly slash his own salary to increase his employees’ pay to a minimum of $70k in 2015 – but his personal conduct has come under intense scrutiny due to the ongoing allegations of abuse.
A New York Times investigation in 2022 was the first large-scale reporting of the abuse allegations against Price. They spoke to over a dozen women who recounted physical and emotional abuse allegations perpetrated by Price, including his then-girlfriend Kacie Margis’s accusations of sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious.
Price has been accused of other instances of misconduct, including forcing unwanted sexual advances and violent behavior. In one reported incident, he was accused of trying to forcibly kiss a woman and grabbing her throat when she resisted.
Although he initially faced criminal charges in Seattle in 2022 of fourth-degree assault and reckless driving related to this incident, these charges were eventually dropped due to inconsistencies in the evidence.
In October, news publications reported Dan Price was indicted in September 2024 by a grand jury in California on a charge of rape of an unconscious victim, according to Riverside Superior Court documents. He is currently out on bail as of publication and is set to be arraigned in January 2025.
The criminal investigation into other abuse allegations against Price appear to be ongoing and impacted individuals are encouraged to report to law enforcement.
