Filing A Lawsuit Against A Doctor For Sexual Abuse

Video Transcript

Yes, you can file a case against a doctor or another medical professional. Some high-profile examples include the big case out of USC, the Larry Nassar case involving the Olympics, gymnastics, or Michigan State. But there are also lots of low-profile cases—cases that never made the news.

It can be hard to overcome the presumption that doctors are trustworthy and that they’re just there for the benefit of their patients. That can be overcome, but there is a sort of built-in bias in favor of doctors.

So what we will do is evaluate your case. We will try to build the strongest possible case. Of course, it always helps if you have a witness—a person that you confided in at the time that something bad happened to you—because, for one reason or another, that may make your story more credible.

But if you’ve been assaulted, if you need to talk to somebody, I recommend reaching out to Helping Survivors. And if Helping Survivors believes that we can help, they’ll put you in touch with Meirowitz and Wasserberg, and we’ll do a free, confidential consultation for you. It’s always confidential.
