My name is Melissa Reitberg, and I’m an attorney at Meirowitz & Wasserberg. I’m going to talk to you about what you can do in the unfortunate event that you are sexually assaulted while using a Rideshare App first thing you should do is prioritize your safety. What that means is, for example, if you were dropped off at your home, make sure that all your doors and windows are locked and stay away from them. The next thing you should do is to report the incident inside the Uber or Lyft app. They both have that option, so be sure to use that. Next thing you should do is to create a police report of the incident. And the way to do that is to call your local police department and talk to them about what happened. I understand this can be difficult. Please be sure to obtain a copy of the report. A lot of people don’t know, but you can request copy of the report and you can amend it If there’s anything that’s inaccurate and you can correct it. Next thing you should do is talk to a lawyer. And how do you know when to talk to a lawyer? If you’ve been made uncomfortable by a driver using an Uber or Lyft ride, should contact a lawyer. Talk to us and see what your options are.
