A suspect has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred early Monday morning in Chicago’s River West neighborhood. The 29-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a rideshare driver in the 800 block of West Superior Street, near the Bally’s Chicago casino construction site, around 2:30 a.m.
According to Chicago police, the woman was a passenger in the gray Toyota Prius driven by the suspect. After the assault, the driver attempted to flee the scene but struck a pole, which allowed police to take him into custody.
Victim’s Condition and Investigation Details
The victim was transported to St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital for evaluation after the assault. The police have confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a sexual assault. The rideshare company identified on the vehicle, EZ Leasing Cars, confirmed that it is fully cooperating with authorities, including providing video footage from inside the vehicle.
