Kathryn Kosmides Transitions to Chayn Board, Continues Advocacy with Helping Survivors

Garbo, founded by Kathryn Kosmides, has been acquired by Chayn.

Helping Survivors, an organization dedicated to helping heal, educate, and empower people who have been impacted by sexual abuse, is proud to continue its partnership with Kathryn Kosmides, a long-time survivor advocate and the founder of Garbo, a tech nonprofit that aims to proactively prevent harm in the digital age.

“I’m honored to be able to be a voice for survivors and will continue to be a fierce advocate for legal reform, advocacy, and helping impacted individuals understand their rights and options,” says Kosmides.

Kosmides has been a dedicated advocate for gender-based violence (GBV) survivors for nearly a decade, and her leadership at Garbo has been instrumental in shaping the conversation around GBV prevention and response in the digital age. As a Survivor Advocate with Helping Survivors, Kosmides has provided critical commentary on the issue of rideshare sexual assault, notably offering valuable insights in the ongoing Uber sexual assault cases and creating videos to help impacted individuals understand their rights and options. Her contributions have helped raise awareness about the complexities of these cases, directly impacting both public policy and legal proceedings related to victim advocacy.

Chayn, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of gender-based violence through digital tools and community, will house Garbo’s content in the coming months. Kosmides sits on Chayn’s Board of Directors and her passion for advocating on behalf of survivors remains as strong as ever. Through Helping Survivors, she will continue to provide her expert perspective and contribute to the organization’s mission of healing, education, and empowerment for those impacted by sexual assault and abuse.
